Bangalore is a hub for job seekers. There are many youngsters who have discontinued their education and have moved to Bangalore to support their families financially. Yet their urge to continue their education and to achieve great heights continued. In order to fulfill their desire of getting educated, BHS Education Institution started ‘BHS Evening Junior College’ along with ‘BHS Junior College’, in the year 1971. Sri. K. Lakshminarayana Rao served as the Principal for both day and evening college till 1975. Evening College was established as an extension of day college. The Principal and lecturers of day college served in evening college too. Later on, the senior lecturer of BHS Junior College Sri. K.S. Narayana became the Principal of evening college in the year 1975. Initially HEPS HEBA & GEBA Combinations were introduced in Arts and Commerce streams respectively.

The Students of BHS Evening Junior College usually worked in the Factories, Private Offices, Printing press etc. There were a few students who worked in government sectors like police department and health sector. Their urge for education was always fresh, inspite of their work. BHS Junior College was Shifted to Jayanagar in 1983, accordingly the evening college was shifted from Shankarapuram to Jayanagar, ‘BHS Evening Junior College renamed as ‘Vijaya Evening Pre-University College’. During those days, Sri. S. Shankaranarayan Rao was the Principal, MEBA in Commerce Stream was introduced in the Curriculum. Under the guidance of Dr. Ananthapadmanabha Rao, the then Principal and also with the effort of young and energetic lecturers, the number of students increased in the year 1994. BASM Combination in Commerce Stream was introduced. Prof. K.N. Vijayaraghavan became the Principal of the College in the year 1987. He was Succeeded by Sri. P. Janardhana Tunga in the year 1993. During his tenure, the pass percentage of the Vijaya Evening Pre-University College reached 55%. The college was granted Grade ‘A’ by Pre-University Education Board. The scenario of evening college changed by this time. Not only students who worked in the day joined the college, but also the students who did not get admission to day college, got admission in the evening college.


As the number of students increased, extracurricular activities like Sports, Cultural & Literary activities were started in the college. The college Celebrated ‘Silver Jubilee’ along with Vijaya Pre-University College (Day College) in the year 1997, on this occasion, Inter-Collegiate Competitions like ‘folk song’, ‘spot light’, were held, ‘Ankura’ the annual magazine was also published. The college Magazine helped the students to exhibit their writing skill. After the retirement of Sri.P. Janardhana Tunga in the year 2007, Prof. K.S. Vijayaraghavan again became the Principal till 2011. Sri. T.V. Govindappa Served as the Principal from 2011 to 2014. Sri. S.L Manjunath is currently serving as the Principal of Vijaya Evening P U College. He has introduced BASCS Combination in Commerce Stream.


Students who have studied in Vijaya Evening Pre-University College have reached better heights in their life. A few among them are Sri. Kempaiah IPS Officer, Tilak Naidu & Sri N.C. Ayappa who were players of Karnataka Ranaji Team. Lingaraj Ithihas, Cinema director Pavan, who is a famous actor is also a part of ‘Maja Talkies Team’. Pradeep Mulgadi, News reported in Suddi T.V. the college is proud of the achievers, who have achieved great heights in their life
